When club president Martin Brown asked Spartans 99/00B Blue head coach Kevin Nash how the Bethesda weekend went, coach Nash replied, "my team didn't win a game, but it was a successful weekend."
Jersey United had it's u17 & u19 boys teams playing at the event. Nash continued, "My players were able to play in front of 52 college coaches in 3 days. Not only does the Bethesda Premier Cup offer excellent fields, but the college coaches always turn up. We were one of the first college showcase clubs in NJ to travel down to Bethesda 8 years ago, and the Bethesda event continues to be one of the best in terms of college exposure."
Coach Sean Davies & his u17 boys team got a couple results going 1-1-1 during the 3 day event, and played in front of a handful of college coaches. "We had some moments of excellent play, along with some frustrating mistakes that need to be cleaned up. Overall the boys played well, and we look forward to our upcoming 2 showcases (PDA & PA Classics) and coming back to Bethesda next year."
Nash's u19 boys competed against Penn Fusion, Potomac & South Florida. "We played against 3 fantastic teams that punished our mistakes, and never gave us a gift. I always want to play the elite teams as it demands we elevate our game, plus they also attract more college coaches out to watch our games."
Lastly Nash shared, "at the end of the day, all the work we do at the younger age groups at Jersey United, is so our older players can compete on a platform to get recruited by college coaches. There are many aspects of our play this weekend we can improve upon, but playing in front of 50 college coaches is a successful weekend in my eyes."
