Parents - we need your help!
Most kids will not be able to do this Challenge on their own. Younger players will need help filling in their forms. Older players will need reminders and additional motivation. All it may take from you is a periodic check-up or reminder - just trying to work this into a routine for your player. For others, you may have to compel them to do it - work with them on juggling and passing, viewing the videos together.... You can also add your own incentives - like going to a movie, a new phone/tablet app, going out for a smoothie, or having a sleep-over. Whatever it takes to keep them going will pay off for them on the field.
The 100,000 Club Challenge is not a silver bullet - this will not turn your son or daughter into a star player. But it will build skill, confidence, and comfort on the ball. It may also build a sense of accomplishment and illustrate the value of persistence and commitment.
A player who can complete this challenge will develop muscle memory, improve their first touch, and learn to get their eyes/heads up quicker. They should also improve their weaker foot as a result. You may never see your player do an Elastico or Double-Scissor in a game, and that is OK… Every touch makes them better. There’s no substitute for time on the ball!
