Juggling
They say not every great juggler is a great player, but every great player can juggle. Juggling develops first touch, ball control, balance, and concentration. As the kids advance in their juggling ability, they learn new ways to escape pressure, hit shots, and passes, and bring the ball down in tight spaces.
For the challenge, we have beginner juggling (dropping to the foot and catching, and using a juggle string or tether) for the younger kids. As they progress, they move to strong foot, weak foot, and combination juggling. Other variations are small ball, tennis ball, barefoot, and seated juggling. Players should record the number of total juggles they do, as well as their high score for that session. It is very important for players to work on their weak foot when practicing this skill!
Periodically, coaches will ask for a demonstration or juggle off. Coaches can also incorporate club juggling punch-cards to mark players' progress.
